Sofia Vergara’s most recent movie was an animated feature called Koati, where she played a villainous snake. This was undoubtedly one of the longest-running roles of Vergara’s career, so she’ll likely have more time than ever to take on new and exciting roles in the near future. The show started in 2009 and was a critically-acclaimed comedy series, thanks in no small part to Vergara’s turn as the sweet, but sassy Gloria Delgado-Pritchett. Modern Family ended fairly recently, wrapping up its run in 2020 with a two-part series finale.
Perhaps a more dramatic role will get her the win this time around. She was nominated four times over the course of Modern Family, but never managed to secure one of the trophies. We wouldn’t be too surprised if Griselda ended up netting Sofia Vergara another Emmy nom. Griselda also stars Orlando Pineda, Jose Velazquez, Fredy Yate, and more. Of course, we’re sure she’s going to nail the role. It seems like Sofia Vergara will have to play a pretty ruthless role here, taking a bit of a left turn from her last big role in Modern Family. She became known as the Black Widow and imported and sold cocaine for Pablo Escobar’s Medellin cartel. Blanco was a mother who created one of the biggest and most profitable cartels in history. Griselda is based on the real-life Colombian cartel lady Griselda Blanco. She’s currently filming a Netflix mini-series called Griselda where she plays the lead role.
